Today in Sunday School we began a study of the Book of Discipline of the UMC. We opened with a history of the church starting with John Wesley and the succession that became the UMC. What was interesting was the different denominations in which each of us was raised. It gave a flavor of what the UMC is with the diversity and openness of the denomination.
I have been listening to a book on John Wesley and found that he was quite a man of vision and contradictions. He was one who today would be seen as a crazy old coot who says what he wants and nobody really listens to. A shame. We don’t really listen to him as it is.
Looking forward to this study as I want to know more about the UMC and grow in my own walk with Christ.
